Q. How long before my appointment should I arrive?
A. It is important to arrive at least 5 minutes before your initial appointment. This allows time to fill in your client file and be ready for your treatment to begin on time.
Q. What if I am late?
A. Arriving late will only reduce the time you spend enjoying your treatment. If possible we will be flexible but usually we will have other clients arriving after your appointment, so it is important we respect these times.
Q. Cancellation Policy?
A. We request 24hrs notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Q. What should I expect at my first treatment?
A. Your first visit will involve a comprehensive medical history, (even things you may feel are irrelevant can be important), please be truthful with your therapist.
Secondly, a postural assessment and muscle tests may be necessary, depending on the reasons for your visit. Everything will be explained thoroughly by the therapist before the treatment begins.
Then you will be given privacy to change and get comfortable on the table, with a large towel for modesty.
At all times throughout the massage you are in charge and may have the pressure altered for your comfort.
After your massage, you will be given time in private to dress and then you will be given at home advise, treatment plan or stretching program as needed.
Q. What should I wear?
A. You must always be comfortable when experiencing a Massage, therefore you are free to wear what will make you feel comfortable. Underwear is a must for all clients.
Professional draping is used at all times to ensure your privacy is respected. If you have any concerns please feel free to discuss these prior to your treatment.
Q. Will I feel any pain or discomfort during my massage?
A. This will depend on the type of massage you are receiving. When having a Relaxation massage or Lymphatic drainage massage, you should feel no pain at all. Remedial, Sports or Deep Tissue massage may involve some discomfort. This discomfort will depend on a number of factors such as: any injuries, scar tissue, your muscle condition, which can be affected by overuse at work or sport, your fitness and how long you have had the complaint.
Some of these deeper treatments may feel a little uncomfortable but you are always free to ask that the pressure be reduced, it just may mean you require more treatments than expected to achieve the required results.
Q. How will I feel after my massage?
A. How you feel after your massage depends on the type of massage you received, the reason for your massage (eg: injury) and the frequency at which you have massage treatments. In some cases you may feel light headed or nauseous after your treatment, especially if you have not had a massage in a while. This is due to the release of toxins from the muscles. Any of these symptoms should disappear after 24-48 hours, leaving you with decreased pain and relaxed muscles.
The emotional benefits and a reduction in muscle tension will be felt immediately.
